the biggest little July 4th.

when we moved to Round Top about 6 years ago, we learned something very important very quickly. folks around here take our nation’s Independence Day very, very seriously. which might be another reason we fell in love so quickly with this little town. we Round Topians (pronounced like “utopia”…and yes, i just made that up but thinking it’s pretty awesome) are extremely proud of holding the record as the longest running July 4th Parade this side of the Mississippi. at 167 years and counting, it’s filled with tractors, horses, longhorns, and floats. but for you newbies…here’s the scoop you need to know for this year’s July 4th festivities:

july 1st – we’re kicking off the celebration on Saturday with all day festivities at The Compound?. we’re talking pie contest, BBQ, Black Cat Choir, and FIREWORKS!!!!

july 2nd – Round Top’s best kept secret, Round Top Festival Institute will host their annual patriotic concert. i would try to explain this place to you, but anything i type just simply cannot do it justice. it truly should be a wonder of the world. in fact, let’s just call it one of the wonders of Round Top.

july 4th – and then on Tuesday, July 4th, the longest running 4th of July parade west of the Mississippi will commence with the blast of the official civil war-era cannon at 10:30 am!

it’s where cowboys & cowgirls ride on longhorns,

where a civil-war era cannon signals the official start of the parade,

and where the only thing higher than our spirit for America is the flag flying tall above the courthouse.

this year, we’re proud to have teamed up with the Round Top Chamber of Commerce to offer several special-JG-designed souvenir tees on behalf of the town.

All proceeds go to the Round Top chamber of commerce. this one is brand new and hot off the press! because, seriously y’all… 90 folks can’t be wrong. (ya really just can’t argue with that.)
