dearest coffee mug…you complete me.

January 13, 2011

have i mentioned how much i love my coffee mug? and when i say love, i mean truly. madly. deeply. i love this mug. and it is a scientifically-proven fact that this mug makes my coffee taste all the better. and on cold days, that coffee mug is like a little piece of heaven in my hands. warm and fuzzy and smelling all cinnamon-y, mocha-y, and coffee-y.

in my world, it’s the perfect size (15 oz of pure delight), the perfect shape. quite simply…the perfect mug. and may God grant mercy upon the poor soul that might happen to stumble into the kitchen before me in the morning and unknowingly use MY mug.

and what’s our recipe for the perfect cup of coffee? amie and i take a few minutes to stir up the perfect concoction every morning.

  1. fresh-ground hazelnut beans (we drink so much, we buy ’em in bulk HERE. and we buy ’em frequently:)).
  2. a spoonful of 100% unsweetened cocoa (we use ghirardelli)
  3. a spoonful of local honey (we’re biiiiig fans of the honey bee)
  4. a few shakes of cinnamon (or we recently discovered the cinnamon grinder….oh baby)
  5. fill yer mug about 3/4 full with coffee
  6. add a healthy dose of half-and-half. and yes, we use the FULL-fat, bring-it-on-baby, variety…preferably organic.

now if you’ll excuse me, i think i need another cup of coffee….

There is nothing I love more than a fab cup of coffee in the mornin’! Okay, well maybe there is like antiques, flea markets, Miranda Lambert concerts and oh yeah Junk Gypsy! Can’t wait to try your little concoction in my next cup.

I prefer joe with sugar free hazelnut creamer… OR a skinny vanilla latte from that popular joe hotspot. : D

That sound’s amazing! How do I enjoy my coffee? In the same mug my Granny drank from several times a day. And I drink it just like she did…enough sugar to “make yer hair curl” and strong enough to “put hair on yer chest!” And on days I am feeling EXTRA indulgent… 1/2 of the above with 1/2 heavy cream…..yuuuuum!

  • Reply Sarah January 18, 2011 at 11:46 am

That sounds totally delicious! I like my coffee straight from Puerto Rico and I like it black.

  • Reply Sue January 18, 2011 at 11:47 am

Not a coffee fan, sadly – but wouldn’t that mug be just perfect for some raspberry tea or maybe some double hot chocolate with marshmallow???? Yum!!

Of course I love my coffee sweet, but I love to add some whiskey on a bad day! Makes all my worries go away! 🙂

I drink it decaf because the real stuff makes my heart feel like it needs to take a lap or two… so decaf w/ some half and half and a half a packet of stevia 🙂 delicious!

I like it very sweet and very creamy. I use 4 splendas and a LOT of (my new favorite) Peppermint Mocha creamer. usually it is only available during the holidays, but i found out they are making it a regular flavor!!!! Nuuuummmmy. As a mother of 4, a full time college student and working a full time job as a CNA, I NEED MY COFFEE

I like mine like my man: big, strong, and milky sweet. Some “grown up” beverage (kahlua) is always nice on a cold wet afternoon, too!

I love to drink my daily coffe from my JG mugs, using Land of a Thousand Hills Muraho coffee beans, a little Slenda, skinny caramel macchiato creamer, topped off with fat free cool-whip!

  • Reply Emma January 18, 2011 at 2:40 pm

It starts with a strong pot of coffee and half a pack of stevia in the raw, in a sub-par mug (which means not a JG mug). Then half of it ends up all over my truck on the way to work and the other half gets me partially through my (terrible) mornings. I’m thinking a better mug would not only save my threads and truck seats, but possibly my entire work day. So forget how I like my coffee, it’s how I like my mug!

I’ll take mine black thank you. However, once in awhile I’ll add a bit of caramel :). I love it hot, I love it with friends. I love it in a TRAVEL MUG 🙂 I don’t leave home without my coffee…in a TRAVEL MUG

Growing up I used to set at the kitchen table with my Grandma Ruby and dip cream center cookies in her coffee (one of my fondest memories). As a kid I didn’t understand her or any other adults infatuation with coffe, then I grew up! My freshme year of college I was introduced to the wonderful world of coffee and ever since then I’ve been a pot a day kinda gal! I usually like it strong, preferably with a shot of espresso in it cream and splenda. I’m always up for trying new things, so I’ve got the ingredients and I’m lookig forward to a cup in the morning! Thanks!

LOVE coffee with flavored Coffemate. Mmmmm! and I ABSOLUTELY understand how your coffee mug completes you… I use my JG Road Trip mug EVERYDAY!! LoVe!

Black! Deepest, darkest black 🙂 I used to drink “Superintendent’s Coffee.” Ask construction boys about how much hair that puts on your chest 😉 Every now and then with a flavored creamer if I’m at a friend’s house.

So… I was enjoying a cup of coffee at my local laundrymat while I was washing my clothes. While I sat there waiting for them to finish up, i was thumbing through one of the magazines left there. I picked up an issue of Country Home from November, 2005(yes, I know that was 5 years ago! but we are a little behind where I live) and to what do my wondering eyes should appear??? An article about my favorite Junking girls!!! It made my day!!! You gals are awesome!

I have a keurig and it is the best thing ever invented in my opinion! I don’t have time in the mornings to drink more than 1-2 cups before I’m off to work. So it’s perfect for those days I only need one cup. My all-time favorite flavor is southern pecan. I almost died last time I went to order my coffee and the southern pecan was out of stock!! Butter Toffee and German Choc Cake are the two next best options…but it’s simple and fast for a girl on the go like me! Plus since the coffee is flavored, I get to buy the cheapo creamer 😉
