reunited…and it feels so good.

and when they asked us to work up the official logo for this epic tour…we knew it had to be nothing short of rockstar awesome.

no guts. no glory.

we channeled southern rock, old-school country, and ZZ top’s “i’m bad. i’m nationwide”

and then we decided to capture our own interpretation of the tour theme…

both with custom engraving on the back…

we channeled badassery. we channeled the wild west. and then we wrapped up our high noon shoot…

we’ll be seeing y’all down the trail…and by trail, we mean we’ll see y’all down the road where we’ll be screaming our heads off like crazy teenagers at the locked and reloaded tour.

one might ask what is it about an airstream? why are they so appealing? why, after 80 years on the road, are they still timeless?

and i think, i know the answer.

airstreams are romantic. they are mysterious. they infer adventure and freedom and wanderlust.

from the griswalds to rockstars & movie stars…

they are the great american roadtrip.

our love affair with airstreams began long ago…it began with our love of the road.

that airstreams are sexy?

 (and yes, i do realize this is not an airstream buuuut it’s james dean, y’all…so for the sake of my daydreamin’-airstreamin’-james deanin’ blog…i’m calling it an airstream. so there.)

this is us. with dierks.

in his newly decked out AMEriCANA-style airstream fit for a road warrior/troubadour/family man. compliments of the gypsies. we’ve known dierks for several years now and he is possibly the nicest guy ever.

we can’t help it. we’re lovers of all kinds o’ music.

from country to rap, from bluegrass & southern gospel to arena rock & big hair bands. from solid country gold to newfangled jams (one might say we have commitment issues).

one of our favorite albums ever is dierks‘, up on the ridge…it was gritty and raw and bluegrassy. it was authentic and gutsy. it was REAL. the lyrics were like something i couldn’t get enough of…

“hey now, honey child we’d be runnin’ free & wild/dance around in the dirt/listen to them crickets chirp./hear old jake start to howl,/when he hears that ol’ hoot owl./give you all i got to give,/that’s how we live up on the ridge.”

this album was a huge inspiration to us as we embarked upon one of our latest projects with dierks & HGTV…

decorating his newly purchased airstream…

dierks has a new album being released tomorrow. the title track, home, is as comforting as apple pie and as graceful as those amber waves of grain. GeT it HERE!

a trophy buck, hunting, guns, and randy travis’s song, forever & ever amen (because according to CrAZY LEgS, NOTHING says ‘i love you’ like crossed pistols and a dead deer :))….with baroque details, ornate scrolls, and prairie-colored roses.

the design was printed on canvas and sewn to fit the chairs (the chairs actually ended up about an inch bigger than our initial measurements, but we work on the fly so with a little stretching, we made it work:)). we tied floppy hot pink satin sashes on each chair for a pop of hollywood honkytonk and they were perfect.

for other chairs, we wrapped ripped pieces of canvas around the backs and then tied them off with vintage belt buckles and die cast cap guns.

 the retro metal chairs sat in front of the AiRSTREAM that served as the ViP trailer court…we placed the rocking chairs on the porch of the barn (for a great view overlooking the creek).

and of course…the chairs at the head table…

on the eve of the 44th annual CMA awards – we’re giddy with excitement for our 2 BFF’s of CounTRY MusiC, MirANDA LaMBERT & DiERKS BeNTLEY…

we recently caught up with MiRANDA on the road….and let me tell ya, ain’t nobody out there that can rock it like this little EaST TExAS girl! as we were jammin side-stage with 2 of our favorite people in the world, her parents-RiCK & BeV LAmBERT, Rick proudly repeated the comparison that miranda has been called “country music’s JaNIS JOPLin”. 2 kick-hiney, bold, daring, ain’t-gonna-take-anything-off-anybody-girls…from texas. perfect.

it was a perfect night. a beyond perfect show. and perfect timing…right before country music’s biggest night…the CMA AwaRDS this wednesday. of which MiRANDA is up for 9, yes NINE awards. this is THE MOST awards any female has EVER been nominated for in HISTORY. and we couldn’t be prouder. MirANDa is the real deal. she’s what-you-see-is-what-you-get. she’s TRULY an amazingly talented songwriter, singer, and performer. she’s a renegade. an outlaw. a trailblazer.

and if i woulda been thinking enough to put my beer down and pick up my camera i would have pics to share from friday night. pics with ran and bev. pics with katherine heigl (um, that’s katie to me now…we’re like total BFFs), pics with eric church and josh kelley. all in her JuNK GypSY-fide airstream…all freezing in a good texas kind o’ way. while ran played old vinyls on the turntable (a fan sent miranda her recently-deceased mom’s extensive vinyl collection…we paid tribute and played them religiously that night).

and today, we’re barely able to sit still anticipating the CMA’s…we’re just so stinkin proud of MirANDA and DiERKS and their big night tomorrow night!

there’s only 2 people in HiSTORY that have ever gotten more nominations than MirANDA…her idol, MerLE HAGGARD, and ALaN JaCKSON.

and sweet dierks…his latest album is gritty. it’s grimey. it’s bluegrass-southern-soul. and we LOVE it.

his BaD ANgEL song (a collaboration with MirANDA) is up for ‘MuSICAL EVENT of the YEAR’ and there’s a BoB DyLAn cover that’s a little gypsy, a little spooky, and pure genius.

and y’all keep this on the down-low but DiERKS and JuNK GypSY may be teaming up on a biggo southern gothic project in the nearrrr future.
