baby put on yer dancin’ shoes…

because we were a little caught up with trying to create the most

rockstar perfect wedding reception we could imagine, we kinda neglected other little details.

like uh, what WE were going to wear to the big event…

we raided each other’s closets, we excavated our vintage stash…soul sistas from here to there sent us boxes of rockin’ vintage threads & jewels to try on (BIG ThankS to DouBLE D RANCHWEAR, MaRTi AgASSiparis montana, ToNY LAmA, our sista in the bayou -GaBRiELLE, & fellow junker – WiNNIE!!)

our new friend, THE FARMER’s TROPHY WiFE was worried we might show up in our work clothes so she posted this.

and true to form, we DID NOT have our outfits nailed down until the VERY LAST MINUTE. using the most absolutely important GyPSY road necessity, a pair of scissors.

mom modified my dress in the hotel room the DAY. of. the. WEDDING.

AND amie pulled out the sewing machine to gypsy-fy her dress literally HOURS. before. the. nuptials.

here we are…right before we raced off to the chapel…

let’s start with janie…

{thanks to KeLLY ChRiSTINE photography for the image! XOXO!}

she rocked a totally jimi hendrix-style PUrPLE satin ruffle blouse paired with a studded & beaded vest and prairie-style santa fe skirt…all TaSHA POLiZZI.

she layered vintage jewelry with some JG pieces (amethyst agate tassel, the BrANDYWINE necklace, and bracelet) and wore her fave OLd GRINGO juliet-meets-biker-babe zipper-style boots.

and amie…

(we got ready last-minute in the airstream that served as the VIP trailer court during the reception…hairspray, doublesided dress tape, and jewelry was everywhere!)

amie found this way cute ruched HOT PINK dress and added one of our LACE bolero tops that she modified (literally on the front porch of our hotel) by adding ribbons down the length of each arm corset-style.

{here's amie...on the front balcony of Ye KenDALL Inn}

she added tons o’ JG turquoise jewelry (turquoise agate tassel, turquoise revival pendant, and a few vintage pieces)…and OLD GriNGO boots…and with her crazzzzzzzy mess o’ bouffant haiR, her outfit was complete.

{good gawsh, we are sooo savagely tan. it's unbelievable. who has time to tan?! }

and then there’s me…

{big thanks to ROBERT EvANS for this pic}

i’m extremely proud of the amazingly beautiful necklace i was soooooo lucky to wear! seriously. our dear friend, marti agassi, made this necklace and my earrings. her work is as beautiful as her heart! marti, her sweet daughter-carter, BFF-cindy, and cindy’s precious daughter-annie, come from across the globe to antiques week EVERY show…they each have a beautiful spirit that is infectious… XOXOX, y’all!

and yes, her last name is AGASSI…as in the GALACTICALLY-crazy-awesome tennis great, ANDRE AGASSI. (marti is andre’s sis-in-law.) a significant portion of EVERY piece of jewelry sold is donated to ANdRE’s incredible education foundation, which provides education opportunities to underserved children. (100% graduate and get scholarships to college!)

mom cut the bottom 6 inches off my dress in the hotel…with a little doublestick tape on the top, it was as good as GUCCI!

my TONY LAMA kicks danced manyyyy a mile that night! these babies are the bees knees! hand stitched, hand tooled, & hand painted…completely made in the USA. AND available for pre-order HERE!

my belt, a vintage….circa 1985 – compliments of t-smitty (yep, my husband’s childhood belt)…complete with ‘TODD’ tooled on the back and his initials on the front (all together now…awwwww). amie had the LuCK & LOVE buckle made for my son, cash baker years ago; the TRUE STRENGTH ring and the BiG ChiEF cuff are 2 of my all time faves and the amazing sacred saint ChriSTOPhER bracelet was ‘new’ made from vintage pieces (it’s a one-of-a-kind…we’ll be carrying them in our future store).

gussied up in our ‘country casual’ finest…we hit the trail headed for the chapel…and then back to the barn for the reception. we had a true night to remember…practically danced the soles off our boots and went to bed that night with smiles as big as TeXAS spread across our faces.

and the next morning, still soaking in the magic from the night before and immensely proud of our contribution to the epic evening, we did what we do best…we pulled on our work gloves and got back to work…

methodically dismantling piece-by-piece the greatest masterpiece we’ve ever created.

and we rode off into the sunset…happily ever after.

rock ‘n roll wonderland with a splash of hillbilly

OK. so yes. it’s been like foreverrrrr since i’ve updated y’all. and there’s soooo much to tell.

let’s start with this little ole wedding we helped with. it was… um, kinda like…a big deal.

and i’m soooo happy to finally share some of the pictures with y’all (more will be forthcoming). the fruits of our labor. it was, the biggest and grandest and most beautifully, awesomely, magically SUBLIME thing we’ve ever done. i only wish i had a magic school bus (or maybe magic airstream in our case:)) to transport you back to that night at the don strange ranch outside of BoERNE texas so that each of you could actually FEEL and touch and taste the sublimeness of the entire event.

{the reception barn from afar...dreamy}

{psst...click on the image to enlarge...we want you to see ALL the details!}

thanks to the amazing skills of RoBERT EVaNS for all images unless noted otherwise (he did brad & jen’s wedding and katie & tom’s!!! wow. AND…he’s like the nicest guy ever).

you know the story of how this project came to be…and for a bit, we struggled with the theme for this reception.

we laid awake at night.

we tossed.

we turned.

our heads whirling a million glittery rockstar miles a minute.

wedding-induced-insomnia. writers block. we were lost in our creative thoughts and unable to pull ‘em all together. and then, like a double-shot o’ love it hit us.

moonshine & mason jars, fireflies & pink guitars. GRIT. GLAMOUR. glam dEER-CAmP. MariLYN MonROE meets ‘OUT of AfRiCA’. it was perfect. it would be beautiful and rustic and rockstar and wedding-ish all at the same time. it was so MIRANDA. and so BLAKE. & SO JuNK GypSY.

there’s just so many things we want y’all to know and to see…so many little details. i’ll attempt to commentate the above shot…giant 5 foot NEON custom made mason jars with blinking fireflies (one hung in the barn, one hung outside from a tree), custom chair slipcovers, seat sashes made of canvas and tied back with vintage belt buckles & metal die cast cap guns, grapevine deer heads flanked the center of the barn and grapevine bee hives (in honor of blake’s hit song, honey bee), crystal chandeliers, vintage boudouir-style fringe lampshades

the head table…created from a salvaged architectural piece and recycled table legs…then painted pink and stained bronze for a way cool rustic effect. vintage rugs, cowhides, gothic chairs covered with JG custom-made slipcovers (each embellished with over 60 crystals for extra glitz)…all nestled under an authentic camp tent. atop the table are jugs of homemade moonshine along with flower-filled minnow buckets & mason jars…and hanging above are our awesome amazing imported hand-forged deer head crystal chandeliers. we commissioned our good friend, ToDD SANDERS of ROADHouSE RELiCS, to make ’THE ShELTONS’ sign inspired by miranda’s logo which we designed for her years ago (check out our new guns & wings buckle!!). (and please ignore the BLUE tarpy stuff in the background…it was part of the venue and couldn’t be removed…but seriously, it almost killlllled us having it there! :))

thanks to KeLLY CHRiSTINE for this image…XOXOX!

remember this? GunPOWdER & LeAD. our version of a shotgun-wedding. our idea of fancy-schmancy wedding decor. the final product…

after the firing squad got finished with these restaurant cans, we drilled holes in the bottom with a hole saw, ran $5 light cords through ‘em and added PINK light bulbs.

{i took this shot while the reception was still a work in progress...ignore the mess in the background.}

clustered together in groups of 5, they were the PERFECT complement to our custom made porch swings emblazoned with miranda’s logo (which we stained HOT piNK).

we hung 4 of these in the barn…and they were seriously awwwwwesome.

above each table hung a different eclectic vintage find… including tattered lampshades (softly glowing with twinkle lights) and crystal chandeliers…

{big east texas thanks to kelly christine for this shot}

when MirANDA and BeV (miranda’s mom) first walked in thursday night as we were working…they both cried. (which of course, made us cry too:).

after the wedding, miranda later twittered: “I finally got to see my wedding pics in US weekly. Amazing day. @junkgypsy made it a rock and roll wonderland with a splash of hillbilly:)”

in short, it was the best night ever. we danced side-by-side with kelly clarkson (i’m dying), kellie pickler, laura bell bundy, hillary, charles, & DaVE of LadY AnteBELLUM, and sooo many more. we met reba mcentire (seriously. i’m speechless. i’ve loved her since ‘whoever’s in new england’). we loved seeing our good friend dierks bentley and catching up with katherine heigl (aka: katie…since we are BFF’s and all…click her name to read about our BFF night in MirANDA’s airstream) & husband josh kelley. we united with our brutha from another mutha, cake designer extraordinaire- jay qualls. we boogied down to NEAL McCOY (i ain’t kiddin, BEST concert EvER!) with the PiSTOL ANNieS and then partied to the tunes of celebrity-style karoake until the early hours of the morning.

but all of that, is another blog…

P.S. check out our wedding section online to get tha LOOK!!! it’s still in the works so check back frequently!

miranda lambert + blake shelton = 4 ever

magic. pure magic.

despite the whir of 3 paparazzi helicopters overhead, the sacred yet simple wedding ceremony of miranda & blake was nothing short of magic. we cried. we laughed. we sat in anxious anticipation.

we worked our booties off decking out the reception in complete junk gypsy style…and for us, it was a project of epic proportions. it was grit. and glamour. marilyn monroe meets out of africa. it was glittery and rustic. it was so completely TEXAS. and it was the best time of our lives.

i’m soooo anxious to show you pictures and tell you alllll the priceless details…but that has to wait just a bit.

good stuff.

sooooo, due to a plethora of factors it’s gettin all kinds o’ crazy up in here…

but we really wanted to take a minute to share a couple of little thangs with ya…a few little pieces o’ sunshine that brightened our day…good stuff.

just sittin in my inbox a couple of days ago was the following email…i wanted to read it aloud to amie and mom but knew i’d get all sloppy and sobby and snotty soooo i just hit forward….i think you’ll feel the same way…

“my fighter shirt arrived yesterday and couldn’t have come at a better moment. My dad Jerry Warren is on the back of shirt #4 and I was just wishing I had him here (shoot I wish that every day) to guide me through a situation. I kept wondering what he would want me to do and realized he would want me to push through what was bothering me and figure it out. In other words fight on. I swear, 10 minutes later UPS pulled up and there was the Fighter Tee…The beauty of the timing isn’t wasted on me.

I pulled it over what I had on and wore it all afternoon and I woke up today better for it.  I just wanted you to know that this shirts affected me in so many ways.  To run my fingers over the names on the back  is emotional and I feel like I am carrying those people with me as I wear that shirt. Their loved ones and I are joined and its an amazing and beautiful thing you girls did with these shirts. I love what you do always, I love this more.” ~ Barbara

and today…she sent this…received from a friend of customer of hers…

“I love the connection….It’s strange but everytime I pull that shirt out of the closet…I always give it hug…You’re right…It is sooo much more…I’ am not sure what…It just is…”

thank you, barbara for making our day! i can’t quit reading this! XOXOOXXXO!

and on an entirely different note…(our minds are kinda all over the place right now:)), y’all just gotta check out this blog post from country chic, fashionista on the farm, ThE FaRMER’S TropHY WiFE. because, of COURSE, neither mom, nor amie, nor i know what we’re wearin to this little shindig comin’ up….

{lovin' this...click image for blog and image credits}

so that’s it…short & sweet! mucho work to do! mucho thanks to give! mucho more to tell but that’ll have to waitttt!!!! more laterrrrrr!!!!
