the mother ship.

September 27, 2012

the mother load. the junk mecca. the fleamarket capital of the universe.

texas antiques week.

the time has come.

for those that remember their first time to warrenton (aka texas antiques week, round top antiques week)…you might be like us and you vividly remember crossing over those first hills of fayette county and into the hills of junk…the neverending hills of heaven. miles and miles of fleamarket goodness for as far as the eye can see. the experience….is 50 shades of giddiness. it’s spiritual. it’s junk enlightenment. and it’s pure-d happiness of all kinds.

your heart rate speeds up. your foot starts to quiver. you grip the steering wheel a little tighter. your palms get all sweaty. your eyes jump from the left side of the road to the right. you wonder if you’re hyperventilating and then realize it’s eupohoria. and then your brain asks…WHY have i never been here before? heaven, is that you?

tonight is the eve of our tent opening at zapp in warrenton. we’ve worked for over a week setting up our cow pasture store. we’ve unloaded trailers.

hauled piles of junk from here to there.

we’ve used a kabillion zip ties and enough light bulbs to beacon alien life forms. the tees are folded and the jewelry is plentiful. the junk is anxiously awaiting your arrival…

and we hope you love it from the top of your cowgirl (and cowboy) hat to the bottom of your pinky toes.

sweet dreams, junkers…tomorrow begins your soul vacation.

I moved from TX to Connecticut about 2 years ago. I’ve been to Brimfield the last two years but I’d pick Flea Market Junkin over Antiquing any day. I’m so jealous of all of you who get to go. The minute we move back to the Midwest you can bet I’ll be there.

I love JG and so wish I could be there for Texas antiques week! My Mom is from West Point, TX and I loved spending summers at my grandparents’ there. My heart is there with you since I can’t be there physically!!

  • Reply Julie Ford September 29, 2012 at 6:58 am

Love everything JG! Where can you find the famous pimento cheese sandwiches??

    • Reply ArtistickittyA October 8, 2012 at 1:28 pm

Julie…don’t mean to butt in…BUT…I highly recommend the killer Pimento Cheese at Legal Tender Saloon myself. 7 cheeses about 2″ thick on homemade bread. D-lish!!! The JG gals may have another fave though. ☺

Just got back from RT/warrenton/Zapp…already miss it! Yall’s place did not disappoint…I bought the 6 ft long not 7 ft long white buffet…measurement was in there for AMIE…she was sure it wasn’t going to fit in the truck-but can I just say she is an absolute jewel to work with! Yall are all amazing including all the guys that helped get the beast in the truck!!…oh and THANK goodness it fit! Whew and in the pouring rain! Thanks for the piece…I love it! I am working on accessorizing it already! Yall are the best! I brought 11 other girls down with me this time and everyone loved the “junk”…food…and fun! Can’t wait for March!
