with love.

July 7, 2012

we’re winding down from yet another fantastically patriotic 4th of july here in round top, and now gearing up for mom and dad’s episode tonight.

our inspiration? rustic americana. the cowboy & the gypsy. because that pretty much says it all…

we dug up some pics that remind us of everything americana. everything we love as a family. as a company. as a country.

the things that inspired us as we prepared to surprise mom and dad with a living room makeover…

rusty, chippy, peely. turquoise.

love this pic…american flag, old beat up truck, perfectly worn-in cowboy hat, rough-out boots, a travel bag, turquoise…and a prom dress. GoD bless america.

great junk. rich colors. yep…this just makes us happy.

and this…this giant american flag we scored makes me even happier…

{we bought this at an auction years ago. it’s 60’X40′ and flew over the state fair of texas in 1972}

amie and dad in the early days…

this picture reminds me of one of dad’s favorite old cowboy songs (and our bedtime song he would sing to us when we were kids)…”well i was hangin ’round town, just spending my time. out of a job, not earnin’ a dime…” ~strawberry roan, marty robbins

and our biggest inspiration….

mom and dad. looking over the little river on our farm in arkansas…

because this makes us the happiest of all.

with love from us to y’all…

I’m very blessed to have met you and your family a week ago when me and my family brought you the big pink 50’s booth. Your mom was so sweet and I think my little son Sam really liked your dad as well. They were comparing pocket knives and such. If your ever in the Canyon Lake or Gruene area, let me know! It was a pleasure to meet you all, Amie, Jolie, Janie, Phillip and Archie! Hope to see you again when you have your grand opening. I don’t have cable or any of that, so I still haven’t seen the show. But I’m sure tonights episode will be awesome! Take care! Your friend Debbie of Diga Diga Daddy’s

As I said earlier, I LOVE your show and it’s more than just another decorating show. I love the story behind it. Y’all are fabulous!!! I love Saturdays– I start the day with yard sale shopping with my sister and anticipate your show in the evenings! 🙂 This episode was priceless.

As I was watching your show on designing your parents living room, I thought I heard your dad say that he was from Halley, Arkansas. Is that right? I’ve written cookbooks/geneologies of my dad’s family last year and am getting started on my mother’s side. They were from Halley, Arkansas and I wondered if I would be imposing to ask your dad if he would e-mail me to see if he could tell me things about Halley and my relatives who lived there if he knew them. The town is so small, I thought he might have haerd of them. They are the Courtneys and the Kelleys. I enjoy your show so much too.

    Hi,
first of all, I love your blog and your shop and the whole spirit and idea surrounding you.
But it would be so great if you could arrange some kind of email contact for your international customers. If I wanna reach you from the middle of europe, I have to stay up super late and pay a fortune for the call.
So this is my try to reach you and ask a question: Does the free spirit eagle belt include the buckle??

Really hope you will answer me and maybe get a little email/online contact some time soon. 🙂

    Keep on going. <3 <3 <3

So I write all this to say that I appreciate y’alls determination, creativity, and homegrown honesty (that i can relate to)! Keep up the good work!
P.S.- If y’all are looking for a new helper/secretary in about a year,,,, after graduation,,, I would be more than happy to apply! 😉

I had HIGH hopes of visiting your store, but unfortunately, it wasnt open when I got there. I was so sad. 🙁 We will be back down there soon. So, I will be trying again. We did eat at Royers, and I must say, AMAZING!!! When will your store be open?

Greetings from California! (yes, there are junk gypsy fans here, too) I just happened upon your HGTV show and have all of them (only four, so sad!) recorded and protected so that I can refer to them when I “need” to. I am hoping that there are more episodes to come. It is one of the most innovative programs on HGTV!
